RTB Stellar Swimbait Casting uses as a base the blank and the components of the Stellar version for spinning.
As the name suggests, they are rods specially designed for pike fishing, with swimbait type lures.
Constructively, the rod uses a combination of 30T and 46T TORAYCA high-modulus prepeg, supplied by the largest carbon fiber producer, the Japanese leader Toray Industries Inc. The different types of carbon have the role of combining the characteristics so that the final blank offers the required specifications.
Stellar has a fast taper action with quite a lot of power reserve in the bottom section.
The long handle adds extra comfort in the fight with the fish and allows longer casts by using both hands when casting. Ever since the test phase, I have been very interested in how the rod is balanced with different reels and the lever plays an essential role in the balance of the final assembly.
The rod is equipped with Seaguide RSolution Titanium rings with a titanium frame. These rings are the equivalent of top class Torzite technology from Fuji, having similar qualities. They are 1.5 times more resistant than classic SiC tablets, have a lower friction coefficient and increased hardness. By comparison, these rings are up to 55% lighter than classic rings.
We chose to use the popular ALPS CASTING MVT Carbon Toray reel seat model as standard equipment. In addition to the special ergonomics that have won the popularity of the model, this reel seat gets maximum points in the sensitivity chapter. Being made of the same carbon supplied by TORAY, the reel seat perfectly transmits the vibrations of the blank, thus increasing the angler's chance to bite the most timid fish attacks.
Last but not least, the design of the rod is fabulous! The cream color of the cork handle and the glossy black with metallic red inserts of the carbon reel seat combine particularly well with the 'blue marine' of the blank. We tested quite a few colors until we decided upon this blue with a liquid effect, which seems to come to life in the sunlight!
